Take care of the golf balls first. I recently heard a story about prfossor who stood in front of his philosophy class and started to fill a mayonnaise jar golf balls until it was filled and he asked his class, "is this jar full?" The class answered yes. He then proceed to fill the jar with pebbles that fell into the open spaces between the golf balls. He again asks his class,"is the jar full?" They class again answered yes. Finally, he filled the rest of the jar with sand and again asked his class, "is the jar full?" They again all repeated yes. He finally told his students that the jar of golf balls represents your life. The golf balls are the important things--your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions--and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.. The sand is everything else--the small stuff. I picked the theme ,"take care of the golf balls first" because I felt it made me remember If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you and to pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Spend time with your parents, visit with grandparents, or play another 18. If you take care of the golf balls first, the things that really matter and set your priorities in order, then the rest is just sand.
